corn flower blue subways

, originally uploaded by erin_nola.

now this is the way i like to see subway tile done. it's not the expected white, white, white that is so over done. i love this creamy , siamese-cat-eye blue against the otherwise white kitchen. just that little burst of color is so sunny and brings such personality to the space. i also love the choice of the angular stool with that blue fabric piped in white. crisp. love it.

I am also a designer and have been looking for a nice clean colored subway. I have found great colors in handmade tiles but nothing along the crisper lines of an American Olean or Dal. Do you know who makes this one?
Love your blog by the way, it's among my daily stops.

THIS is the kitchen that started me on my long, extended, drawn out, taking forever remodel of my own kitchen. I LOVE this.

you know, i've found some colors that come close. lone star ceramics --a tile company-- has a wide range of colors. they have one called colbalt that looks pretty darn near. check this out and see what you think

and tricia, i think what you're referring to is the difference between a tile that's been hand glazed, where the edges are almost, faded a bit, and a the non-hand glazed. some people prefer that hand done look. more organic i guess. it has it's place but this kitchen looks great because of the crispness i think.

Wow, that blue really sets this kitchen apart. I love white, but when you can have a gorgeous color like this, why not go for it? It brings out the beauty of the white and vice/versa. BTW, love your blog and writing style.

Great blog, and I'm really relating to this kitchen. Of course, "fresh" is the word. How could you ever feel down or tired in this kitchen? The blue is really wonderful.

Thank you so much! My search is finally over!
Here is a link to an article on a house I finished recently. Hope you like it. Quarter inch stainless steel counters are our big thing here.

how funny. this is the kitchen/picture i based my kitchen renovation on. it was a home on the gulf in FL from southern accents and i believe the tiles are anne sacks but i bought similar ones at waterworks. i'm madly in love w/ the tile.

Great Blog! Love it! By the way, do know what color the floors were in this kitchen? I'm thinking about remodeling my kitchen to something similar to this but I'm looking for a picture so I can help sell my idea to my other half who has to endure the torn apart torture! Thanks. Keep up the good work.

Hi Sarah,

I haven't any idea what color the floors are. But if it were my house, I'd go very dark.

Hi. Do you know where the light over the sink is from? Or where one could find a similar light? Thanks!!!
